5 Free Knitting Patterns for Spring 2024

With the sun shining, I'm ready to tidy up my stash and get cracking on fun projects with my leftover yarn! Maybe this list is all for me, or maybe it could help you too. Check out 5 *FREE* knitting patterns perfect for springtime projects and stashbusting!

Incredible Blanket by Purl Soho

First up is the Incredible Blanket by Purl Soho. On the pattern page they write that knitting this blanket is all about the fun and surprise of colour relationships, of striping two colours that you might normally think have no business being together and discovering that they actually make each other sing. Along the way, your heart will open to colours you've never loved before and you may never see the world the same!

I don't know about you, but that sounds super cool! I've got a ton of fingering weight yarn in my stash in all sorts of colors. This project is the perfect way to use up those random bits and make something truly unique.

Weekend Shorty Socks by Summer Lee

On the pattern page Summer writes "The Weekend Shorty Socks are a fun easy, JOYFUL knit that can be whipped up quickly! A great stash-buster, these socks are designed with color play in mind! The pattern includes detailed instructions for SIX sizes, from toddler to adult!" At first glance this feels like a lot of value for a free pattern and it actually really just is. You could totally follow how Summer placed the colours in the sample but looking at the over 1000 Ravelry projects you can really tell that the options for colour are endless. I personally have only knit one pair of socks but I feel like that might change after finding this free pattern!

 Lowkey Bandana by lowkey.bold.knit

Okay I love this next one. I think it is so chic and with only 160m (175 yards) of sport weight yarn required I feel like many of us could scrounge together the yardage to make one of these. I love the versatility of wearing it around your neck as a scarf or bandana or in your hair as a scarf. It's perfect!

Sunburst Potholder by Purl Soho

Another perfect and free houseware from Purl Soho. I don't know what it is about these but I think they are so cute. I have a couple of felted wool pot holders and I love them so maybe that's why?

An Italian Summer Scarf by An Italian Knitter

Last but not least, this amazing scarf by An Italian Knitter. This scarf feels very similar to the Sophie Scarf/Shawl by petiteknit except it's free. I also love the addition of the eyelets. They are a nice detail to keep it an interesting knit and just add to the warm weather feeling of this scarf.
